Evidently Afghanistan has "impenetrable forests" of marijuana plants growing wild. And best yet, it can't be destroyed by military means. This is one of the greatest news stories I have ever seen. Those damn Canadians have all the fun. I aboot to join the military 'cause I'm sure I can help get rid of those plants.

"The challenge is that marijuana plants absorb energy, heat very readily. It's very difficult to penetrate with thermal devices. ... And as a result you really have to be careful that the Taliban don't dodge in and out of those marijuana forests."

"We tried burning them with white phosphorous -- it didn't work. We tried burning them with diesel -- it didn't work. The plants are so full of water right now ... that we simply couldn't burn them."

"A couple of brown plants on the edges of some of those [forests] did catch on fire. But a section of soldiers that was downwind from that had some ill effects and decided that was probably not the right course of action," Hiller said dryly.

One soldier told him later: "Sir, three years ago before I joined the army, I never thought I'd say 'That damn marijuana'."

Highly Selassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11996514527302875713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8852906581943008015.post-81989858050649363932006-10-10T17:29:00.000-07:002006-10-10T17:43:58.562-07:00Legalize It - NevadaEvidently even the clergy in Nevada are down to party because a coalition of religious leaders are making a case for the legalization of pot in their state. I guess these guys didn't get the GOP memo that says to keep pot illegal for the sole purpose of advancing the pharmaceutical industry which makes themselves rich. Obviously these clergymen are logical, rational people, unlike so many others. They argue that keeping pot illegal makes it easier for underage kids to obtain it and also promotes gangs, drug dealers, and violence. I can't argue with that, when I was in high school it was much easier to get weed than beer. The clergy also go on to say that it will help generate money for the state, which is a very valid claim. Look at what taxes on tobacco has done. It amazes me that stuff like this isn't common knowledge. I wrote a lengthy paper in college and gave a speech that highlighted all of these points and I think I will post it here sometime.

Hopefully these guys get their way since Nevada is probably the state most likely to approve this sort of thing. There is a lot of good stuff in this article that I would never had expected a clergymen to state publicly. Maybe this will be the start of something and if the GOP finally loses their seats in congress next month we can begin to change. There is a question on the ballot for next month. Let us all pray that this passes, agnostic, christian, and faithful alike. The article goes on:

"Some of us Protestants believe that one of the functions of government is to curb sinful behavior," said the Rev. Ruth Hanusa, chaplain at Campus Christian Association at University of Nevada, Reno. "But our marijuana laws are not curbing marijuana use and they are causing more harm than good by filling the pockets of dangerous criminals and ensuring that children have the easiest access of anyone," she said. Hansen said he recently asked his 16-year-old daughter if she could find marijuana if she wanted to and before she could answer, his 18-year-old son burst out laughing. "He said, 'What a stupid question dad,"' Hansen said... "One of the roles of religion is to point out hypocrisy in society. By any means, marijuana is less dangerous to individuals and society than alcohol," Scheuneman said. "Ads for alcohol are plentiful. You are allowed to buy unlimited amounts, and in Las Vegas we give it away for free to gamblers in casinos and allow people to drink it on the streets," he said.
Highly Selassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11996514527302875713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8852906581943008015.post-59056965738525442006-10-06T07:16:00.000-07:002006-10-06T07:38:40.467-07:00Weed Isn't That Bad for Memory After All.
A recent medical study reveled that marijuana may prevent or slow down the progress of alzheimer's disease. Aparently, the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, has the ability to preserve levels of an important neurotransmitter. THC prevents the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from breaking down more effectively than any other marketed drugs. THC is also effective at blocking clumps of protine that can inhibit memory and cognition in alzheimer's patients, according to researchers at Scripps Research Institute in California.

New research shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may prevent the progression of the disease by preserving levels of an important neurotransmitter that allows the brain to function.

Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in California found that marijuana's active ingredient, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, can prevent the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from breaking down more effectively than commercially marketed drugs.

THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer's patients, the researchers reported in the journal Molecular Pharmaceutics.

Wow, this is great news. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease with very few treatment options. More research should be done on marijuana. I'm sure there are hundreds of more unexplored benifits. He had three different bottles that he brought back from a recent trip to Europe. I had absinthe that was from Switzerland. It was clear in color unlike the more common green color. He even had special absinthe glasses to drink it out of. It has a very strong menthol odor and tastes like black liqorice and is very bitter.

When you add ice or water to it the drink becomes cloudy. Instead of doing shots most people add cold water to it and sip on it so thats what I did. After that it was a lot easier to drink. I had always assumed that you hallucinated when you drank absinthe, but I didn't. Although I only had about 2 shots worth. I think the effects are stronger if you drink more. I definitely did get a nice buzz though.Irwinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16910036481393644858noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8852906581943008015.post-27786247998110840592006-09-28T10:46:00.000-07:002006-09-28T10:56:17.547-07:00Moooooove Over GrassA polish woman has been arrested for cultivating pot, not for her personal use, but for her cow. Evidently the cow was "unruly" and she decided to mix in some herbal remedy into the cow's feed which made the cow chill out. I'm not all that worldly but shouldn't the polish government be working on say, fixing up the country and economy before demonizing an old woman and her now-docile cattle? I mean, isn't poland like the epitome of an eastern european wasteland? I just think they should be diverting their assets toward more constructive uses than busting some old woman who is helping her cow to settle down. Now they have this old woman in jail and an unruly cow reaking havoc on the polish countryside.

The cow had been "skittish and unruly" -- once breaking a person's arm -- until someone suggested mixing cannabis in with its feed, the woman told police.
"The cow became as calm as a lamb," the 55-year-old woman said.
In other news, <s>I</s> a friend of mine is in possession of a small amount of extremely potent marijuana. This isht will knock you on your ass with one hit. Don't even think you can take a half hit and go skating. I don't think so.Sure, I'm all about giving the dog a shotgun or blowing some smoke towards the cat but this is completely irresponsible and disgusting. The woman let her 18 month old baby hit her bong because:

Ms. Durham allegedly remarked that smoking improved Michala's appetite and left Michala lethargic and mellow - a manner she found consistent with her own experience smoking marijuana.
People need time to grow into themselves and become intelligent people before they start partaking in one of the greatest herbal experiences this planet offers. The well known, yet mild, side effects of marijuana use could be very damaging to a child's growth, mental and physical. The kid would probably become a very lazy, fat, unmotivated welfare expense if this behavior was to keep up. The woman will face a couple years in jail which is extremely warranted and I hope they have her on strict probation for at least ten years after. Jah help her and her poor baby.Highly Selassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11996514527302875713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8852906581943008015.post-21721475076971562012006-09-20T13:55:00.000-07:002006-09-20T14:11:39.929-07:00$ Pay To Skate $Why is it that whenever someone calls you to skate you have spend 10 bucks to get into some daycare facility with ramps, or drive a half hour or more to skate a pre-fabricated park which is probably within .5 miles of a police station. I'm tired of driving to dumb ass skate parks and shelling out the dough for private ones.

When I first started skating there were no city skateparks and the closest, Chenga World (the original) R.I.P. was an hour and a half away. I had a lot of fun skating strip malls, getting hasseled by store owners, and when kicked out of every spot, building a ramp, box or perhaps relaxing with a bong and a blitz. I mean we used to have fun with just a wooden skid to ollie over and a nice curb. What happened! That's best part of skating rolling out onto your street and letting the stunt wood take you on a trip, no gas needed. I call on all skaters to boycott city skateparks (unless they are really good) and private parks (no exceptions unless there is percipitation involved) and save your money for more important "green stuff."

Unless of course it's winter in ohio and you haven't skated in 2 weeks. Then I would advise rollin up a fatty, filling the tank, suck it up and pay to skate.Highly Selassiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11996514527302875713noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8852906581943008015.post-30935637507305265232006-09-02T11:06:00.000-07:002006-09-02T11:11:01.457-07:00Get NoseBlunted
This blog shall deal with the only things that matter besides other more important stuff.
